It is the morning of 19th December 2024 and we are excited to meet for a team adventure at Karura forest, one of the most exciting urban forests in Nairobi. Karura forest boasts of three rivers flowing through it, a waterfall, two hundred bird species, butterflies, monkeys, bushbucks, hares among other animals. Everyone was looking forward to a day of playing football, cycling, going for a nature walk and engaging in activities that offer an opportunity to bond as a team outside of work. 2024 was indeed a busy year where most team members put in extra time to ensure projects are not just delivered but delivered with excellence. It made sense that most team members would want to freely unwind at the beautiful Karura forest.

Projects and Milestones:

2024 saw us undertake numerous projects in evelopment. We upgraded the version of our elearning solution Erevuka, added key security features, explored more on optimal storage options etc. Erevuka now has a multilingual functionality to support customers who have a multilingual audience. Erevuka has customers with a footprint across 13 countries. It was a key goal for us to provide a feature that enables our customers to deliver training to their staff in different languages.

The majority of the staff who interact with our eLearning systems are in HR and Training.  A content development feature that makes it easy for non technical admins to add training content easily via one backend was created and is being refined further by integrating tools that make learning content interactive and engaging. Our support team spent time managing our customers’ academies and web portals. Key priorities for them included adding features and fixing issues arising just to make sure learners and all end users of our platforms have a smooth experience and platforms remain scalable for the benefit of our customers.

Among our greatest milestones in 2024 was onboarding one of the largest banks and insurance organizations in East Africa. This was a big win for us and it meant that we had more work in the short and long term. It means alot for us when leading organisations trust local organisations like ours to deliver for them. We spend time planning to ensure that when the work comes we deliver as much value as possible as we understand that our competition is both local and international.

2024 was also the year when we grew the team and onboarded AI to help us deliver new aspects of learning to drive engagement. Our growing design team was busy with new projects and spent a significant amount of time learning new technologies. We are very proud of the team as they managed to strike a good balance between the two.

Given the kind of year 2024 was, most of our team conversations were mostly about new technologies, strategy, innovation, timelines, customer feedback etc. However on the 19th of December we wanted an opportunity to relax and reflect in a different way. For a team full of creatives such as the Farwell team, going out and being one with nature was particularly relaxing.

Once we were done we closed the year with a team Koroga which offered another opportunity to relax and unwind.

Rewarded Excellence

As we closed the year we also rewarded top performers in design and development with an all sponsored trip to Masai Mara to relax and unwind some more! It was critical that they go out in the wild where there’s little to no network and have memorable safari adventures.

All in all, 2024 was a great year, full of learnings and opportunities. We are grateful for the work we get to do, customers that trust us with their work and the Farwell team for their resilience and constant hunger to learn. We have kicked off 2025 with zeal and are in our element exploring new technologies and efficient ways to solve business problems, making learning exciting and easy to manage.
